Time out...

...for Christmas and New Year.

Thank you all for a brilliant 2005. And guess what? I know that 2006 will be even better. The "new" company will be launched, a few new projects unveiled, and much more.

Peace, love and happiness to you all.

Pando sends 'em too

I prasied DropSend in my post yesterday. A friend pointed out that Pando has a similar service. True. At first glance (I haven't had time to try Pando yet) there seem to be a few differences.

Wile DropSend offers a small desktop app as an option, Pando requires you to install one (Win, Mac avail) to use their service. In my book this is a minus. I'm all about the web apps, as you know. Neither does Pando seem to offer file storage.

Inside Mac Tv launches

Scott Sheppard and the team behind one of radio's best tech and Mac shows, Inside Mac Radio and its podcast, today took the next logical step and launched Inside Mac Tv. A short intro is available via the regular podcast feed.

The site at the URL shown in the intro, insidemactv.com, doesn't seem to be active at the moment. The radio show is at www.osxfaq.com/radio. Personally I also hope that Scott & Co one day will develop a more userfriendly and better looking site :)

DropSend's big solution

It's the little services that make our lives easier. DropSend offers a helping hand with emailing large files and online storage. I've seen a few of these services over the years but DropSend gets my vote. And it's pretty too!

Boltfolio shares it all

I'm crazy busy with work projects at the moment but I wanted to make sure you don't miss Boltfolio.

This is what Techcrunch has to say: "What I like best about Boltfolio is that they have unlimited storage and allow uploading of virtually any media file - photos, video and audio. Users should not have to go to multiple sites to upload different kinds of content." Bingo!

Skype for biz?

I still get asked if Skype has a place in the business environment. My answer remains the same - yes, and no.

If you work in any industry where companies need to log emails, IM conversations etc you shouldn't do your employer the disservice of using Skype in the work place. If you're at all able to. Most up to date IT managers will have made sure that Skype either can't be installed, or indeed run, on the network.

If on the other hand, you're a SMB in a non financial/medical/etc industry, or even run your business from the spare bedroom, Skype is a brilliant choice. Apart from the obvious benefits (it's free, calls to landlines are cheap, yada yada), it's a good tool that keeps your comm's tools in one place - your PC. It's quick, it's easy to use. I know of a journalist who conducts interviews with Skype and records them to his hard drive with Ambrosia's WireTap.

You can find lots of blog posts, articles etc on Skype's merits elsewhere so I won't spend any more time on it here.

But I want to point you to a good little piece covering Skype in the workplace from eWeek.

Re: Blinksale

A few days a go I was wondering what was happening over at Blinksale since they hadn't posted to their blog since September 14. A few hours later Josh posted an "all's busy in the factory" message.

It appears as if things are progressing and that Blinksale's API is close to completition. Good good.

If you haven't tried Blinksale, give it a spinn. It doesn't fit Orvet Digital's needs, but I've seen it in action and it's impressive. Simple, beautiful and efficient.

eHub

" eHub is a constantly updated list of web applications, services, resources, blogs or sites with a focus on next generation web (web 2.0), social software, blogging, Ajax, Ruby on Rails, location mapping, open source, folksonomy, design and digital media sharing."

It's a great resource. Big thanx to Emily for creating it.

Make sure you Panic

It just hit me (again!) that Panic's Transmit 3 is a brilliant FTP client for the Mac. Brilliant. Don't hesitate. Just get it. Now.
